COEH webinars take place on the first Wednesday of each month at 10:30am PST. All webinars are approximately one hour in duration.
The goal of the COEH webinar series is to raise awareness about current issues of health and safety at work and to share updates on the latest research in occupational and environmental health within the community.

Title: Climate Change and Health
Speaker: Kent Pinkerton, PhD, Director of the Center for Health and the Environment, UC Davis
Changes in climate and increases in the frequency of extreme climate events are predicted to adversely affect human health in a variety of ways. In this webinar Dr. Kent Pinkerton, Director of the Center for Health and the Environment at UC Davis, will provide an overview of the public health effects of climate change.
On completion of this webinar participants will be able to:
Dr. Kent Pinkerton is Director, Center for Health and the Environment and Professor, in the Department of Pediatrics, School of Medicine and Professor, Department of Anatomy, Physiology and Cell Biology, School of Veterinary Medicine at UC Davis. Dr. Pinkerton studies the health effects of environmental air pollutants on lung structure and function and the interaction of gases and airborne particles within specific sites and cell populations of the lungs in acute and chronic lung injury. He also researches the effects of environmental tobacco smoke on lung growth and development.
Dr. Pinkerton serves as the Associate Director for the Western Center for Agricultural Health and Safety, where he researches climate change impacts on agricultural health and safety. He has co-chaired symposiums on Climate Change and Global Public Health for the American and Turkish Thoracic Societies and is co-editor of the book, Global Climate Change and Public Health published in 2014. He is Visiting Professor at Nanjing Medical University in Nanjing, China and Shandong University in Jinan, China respectively. He completed his Ph.D. degree in Pathology at Duke University.
