Current Topics on Particulate Pollution and Cardiovascular Disease

This course is presented by the Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH). The focus of the symposium is Particulate Matter (PM) exposure and cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes, including clinical and subclinical markers as well as mortality. It is designed to provide occupational and environmental health professionals with a synthesis of the current research on PM exposure and CVD outcomes.
An attendee completing this course will be able to:
Improve their understanding of the role of PM exposures in cardiovascular disease
Summarize household, occupational and ambient exposures to PM
Describe PM exposure and CVD outcomes (clinical and subclinical markers and mortality)
Improve their understanding of monitoring devices
Inform policy for public health from a current knowledge of PM exposures and CVD outcomes
The COEH Continuing Education Program is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The COEHContinuing Education Program designates this symposium for a maximum of 6.0 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
COEH Continuing Education Program is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing, Provider #12983. Nurses may report 7.2 contact hours for this course.

This course meets the Board of Certified Safety Professionals criteria for 0.5 COC points.
