Title: Non-Animal Occupational Toxicology Testing Technology and Policy

Speaker: Kristie Sullivan, MPH


This webinar with Kristie Sullivan, MPH, will discuss modern toxicological testing and policies. This webinar is recommended for occupational health professionals, chemical risk assessors, regulatory compliance professionals, safety toxicologists, and chemists interested in tools to design for safety.



On completion of this webinar participants will be able to:


  • Outline general limitations of current approaches to toxicological testing
  • Review the state of the science for in vitro and computational chemical assessment tools, including applications in occupational health
  • Learn about research and policy efforts propelling a transition towards predictive toxicology at federal and international levels
  • Discover resources for further engagement and involvement



Kristie Sullivan, MPH, is the vice president for research policy at the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, where she promotes the development and use of human-relevant methods for testing, research, and training through collaboration with industry, academic, and government stakeholders.

Ms. Sullivan coordinates the International Council on Animal Protection in OECD Programmes (ICAPO), a coalition of NGOs advancing the 3Rs in OECD programs, and has served on advisory committees including the Pesticide Program Dialog Committee. Ms. Sullivan has organized workshops and meetings on topics such as acute toxicity, skin and eye irritation, and respiratory toxicity, and conducts and organizes trainings for industry and regulatory toxicologists on (Q)SAR and in vitro methods and Adverse Outcome Pathways. Ms. Sullivan is Secretary of the ASCCT and an active member of the Society of Toxicology. She has published and presented frequently on toxicological methods and policies.


Ms. Sullivan obtained her BS in biological anthropology and MPH in Toxicology from the University of Michigan. Previously, she was an analyst in the UM OSEH Environmental Laboratory and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene.
