Fundamentals of Workplace Safety
August 4-5, 2008 (Monday-Tuesday)
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Severe occupational traumatic injuries pose a
major and continuing threat to the health and well-being of workers.
Occupational trauma is second only to motor vehicle accidents as a
reported cause of accidental death in the United States. This two-day
course will present an overview of fundamental safety principles.
The following topics will be covered: Hazard recognition
and control; job analysis and safety; federal codes and standards;
California codes and standards; materials handling; flammables, fire
protection, and life safety; electrical safety/hazardous locations;
machine guarding; construction/shoring/scaffolding; confined spaces;
personal protective equipment; accident investigation and reporting;
inspection techniques/safety audits.
