COURSE TITLE

Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene

2009 Summer Institute
July 27-31, 2009, Oakland, CA

DESCRIPTION

This 4 ½ day course is designed as an introduction to the basic concepts of industrial hygiene. It is aimed at the individual who has just begun to assume responsibility in the area of industrial hygiene, whether direct working responsibility or management responsibility. It will provide an overview of the many disciplines that comprise and interact with the industrial hygiene function. Participants will gain a familiarity with the basic terms and essential concepts of the field and an understanding of the key principles of the professional practice of industrial hygiene: anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of occupational health hazards.

**Each participant will receive a CD-ROM of the 1000-page textbook Fundamentals of Industrial Hygiene, 5th Edition, Plog, B.A. (ed.), 2002.

OBJECTIVES

Participants completing this course will:

Industrial hygienists, safety engineers, nurses, plant managers, personnel managers, supervisors, loss control managers, risk managers, union representatives and members – anyone needing a basic introductory program in industrial hygiene.

- 4.5 IH CM Points. ABIH approval # 09-2165
- Meets criteria for 2.25 BCSP COC points
- COEH Continuing Education is a California Board of Registered Nursing approved provider BRN # 12983 / 34.2 contact hours
