COURSE TITLE

Designing Asbestos Abatement Projects

COURSE DESCRIPTION

(AHERA Project Designer Course)

This three-day course provides AHERA accredited contractors/ supervisors with the opportunity to study, evaluate, and design asbestos response options for complex but common asbestos abatement problems.

The course includes two days of classroom discussion, a field exercise, and a one-day design workshop. You quickly review the OSHA, EPA, and California asbestos regulations and legal liability issues. Then Cal/OSHA certified consultants discuss the more difficult aspects of air sampling, respiratory protection, cost estimating, and abatement work practices. You participate in an elaborate exercise that helps you identify and evaluate critical components of the design process. Enrollment is limited.

Required Textbook

Besides the standard EPA course materials used by most training providers, we'll give you several hundred pages of course material developed and copyrighted by UC Berkeley. Many other training providers try to use the course materials we wrote for this course, because they know our materials are the best. No other school even comes close to matching the number and quality of our instructors. The best materials and the best instructors make for the best value in asbestos training.

Advance Enrollment Required

Class size is limited. You will recieve an e-mail confirmation of registration containing course and payment information. A registration reminder with an attached .pdf file containing directions to the course site and other course related information will be e-mailed to you at least one week prior to the course start date. Please call 510-643-7277 for directions if you register late and/or do not receive the e-mailed information.

Prerequisite

This is an intermediate-level course requiring that you already have AHERA accreditation as a contractor/supervisor. You can obtain this by taking Practices and Procedures in Asbestos Control or an equivalent course. Call us at (510) 643-7277 if you don't meet the prerequisite but still wish to take this course.

CREDIT

AHERA accreditation: You meet the requirement for project designer if you attend the entire course and pass the exam on the final day.
