COURSE DESCRIPTION
The Center for Occupational and Environmental Health (COEH) organizes annual symposia to highlight important occupational and environmental health and safety issues and showcase research by Center faculty and students. Student research will be presented in a poster session.
The 2008 Symposium was organized by Marc Schenker, MD, MPH, Professor & Department Chair, Public Health Sciences UC Davis School of Medicine (Epidemiology; Occupational and Environmental Medicine), and Robin Baker, MPH, Director of the Labor Occupational Health Program at UC Berkeley.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

To learn about current research on occupational health hazards disproportionately affecting immigrant workers
-
To learn about unique health care access and health policy initiatives affecting immigrant worker populations
To understand and help develop intervention strategies to reduce occupational illnesses and injuries among immigrant populations.
AUDIENCE
Occupational health and safety professionals and others interested in reducing immigrant worker occupational injury and illness, including industrial hygienists, safety professionals, occupational health physicians and nurses, labor representatives and policy makers.

COEH is a provider approved by the California Board of Registered Nursing,
BRN Provider # 12983. Symposium approved for 7.2 Contact Hours.

Physicians
COEH is accredited by the Institute for Medical Quality/California Medical Association (IMQ/CMA) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. COEH takes responsibility for the content, quality, and scientific integrity of this CME activity. COEH designates this educational activity for a maximum of 6 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™. This credit may also be applied to the CMA Certification in Continuing Medical Education.
