2008 Industrial Hygiene Forum Series #1Bay Area Earthquakes: How Historical Data and the Latest Technology Can Help Us Prepare for the Next Big One
Speaker James Dalessandro DESCRIPTION Mr. Dalessandro consulted extensively with the US Geological Survey when writing his historical novel on the 1906 San Francisco earthquake. He has made numerous television appearances talking about the earthquake and subsequent fires and how this historical data can be used today. The US Geological Survey has contracted with him to put together a film on what would happen when an earthquake occurs in the Bay Area. He will be showing part of this film in class. A representative from the USGS will also be at this Forum to talk about the latest earthquake technology and new mapping programs, and how their use can minimize the effects of earthquakes at work and at home.
